Having a panic attack is extremely frightening. It is like watching yourself loosing control. Your body reacts like you are in a life threatening situation, and you just can't stop it, no matter how hard you try. Here are some points that you need to remember during an attack in order to break out of it:
1. These emotions are just an exaggeration of the body's reaction to stress, and nothing more.
2. As much as it feels like your life is in danger, remember that it is not real and you are not really in danger.
3. Don't try to fight the panic attack, it will only make it worse. Take a deep breath and let go. Wait for it to pass by itself.
4. Don't punish yourself for having this problem. Accept the fact that you have it and concentrate about how you are going to deal with it. This will help reduce the stress and increase your chance to overcome it.
5. Another helpful way to break out of a panic disorder attack is to distract yourself. Just concentrate on your surroundings.
6. Don't run away from society. You may fell safe at home but it will only make it worse the next time you will be in a social situation.
Remember that if you will use these tips; most of the chances are that you will cope with panic and anxiety. Every time you will do these steps, you will reduce your fears.
